About Solevu, Fiji

Fiji is located in the South Pacific and consists of 332 (110 are inhabited) tropical islands. A true tropical paradise. The Mamanuca island group is off the eastern coast of the Fijian main island of Viti Levu. The village of Solevu is on Malolo Island. Malolo Island is the largest island dominating the Mamanuca Islands group, home of the film “Castaway” (Castaway Island is about an hour by boat from Solevu). There are over 1,000 people living in Solevu.

In July, 2014, Cole met in Solevu, Fiji with Tui Lawa Ratu Sevanaia Vatunitu, the Paramount Chief (as well as his wife, Mere Wai and the Chief Maker, Tevita) of the district of Malolo in the Nadroga-Navosa Province. He is the traditional leader to four villages and to Malolo and Mamanuca islands. The water filters Cole delivered will be used at Malolo District Primary School.

Cole continues to provide filters and monitors the usefulness on his annual trip to Fiji ensuring that the filters will provide clean drinking water for many years.
